North Adams Public Schools is excited to offer two free opportunities through the Adult Basic Education Program: Adult ESOL Classes and a Family Literacy Program
Adult ESOL classes are available in beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Classes are open to any speakers of other languages that would like to learn or practice English, and will be held in remote, in-person, and hybrid formats.
The Family Literacy program is open to all caregivers for young children interested in learning about their child’s development and how to support their child in school. Participants will also gain strategies for engaging in their child’s education by building their own skills. Program requirements include:
Must be a caregiver of a child (birth - 5 years of age)
Must be in need of passing the GED/HiSET or have an academic deficit in either literacy or numeracy
Be able to participate in both remote classes and an in-person class on Saturday morning for both participant and their child(ren)
Both programs will begin the week of January 17th. In-person classes will take place at 85 Main Street, Suite 105 in North Adams. For more information, including registration information, please contact Annie Pecor at apecor@napsk12.org or at 413-412-1118.
