Dear Brayton Families,

We hope you all had a wonderful break filled with rest, fun, and time together. We are so excited to welcome our Brayton Bears back to school tomorrow and jump into the second half of the year together!

Just before break, we gathered for a school-wide assembly to celebrate the hard work our students have been doing all year and to recognize them for being respectful, responsible, and safe members of our Brayton community. This focus on positive behavior and strong community will continue after break as we keep building on these expectations together.

Since the beginning of the year, students have been engaged in rigorous learning and working hard every day. We look forward to continuing that momentum and seeing all of the growth our Brayton Bears will make in the coming months!

As we head back, here are a few important reminders to help mornings run smoothly and keep everyone safe:

• Early drop-off is only for approved K–2 students. Qualifying students include families with K-6 students at both Colegrove Park and Brayton Elementary Schools. Eligible families can apply for this program here.

• For all other students, doors open at 8:25 AM. For their safety, we cannot welcome students into the building before this time. We kindly ask that you remain with your student(s) until we are ready to open the building.

• Please do not park in front of the main entrance of the school (in the bus loop) before 8:50 AM, as this blocks our buses during arrival. Please utilize our parking lot when dropping off or picking up your student.

• A safety reminder: it is illegal to drive around a school bus when the stop sign is extended — this applies even on school property.

*please share this information with any caregivers (grandparents, etc.) that may be dropping off or picking up your student from school.

As for winter weather fun — students will go outside for recess whenever the temperature is above 15 degrees, so please be sure your child comes to school with appropriate winter clothing (coat, hat, gloves, etc.). We also strongly encourage families to send in a spare set of clothes to keep in lockers, as accidents and wet recess gear do happen.

Our next PTG meeting will be held this Thursday, January 8th at 5:00. We look forward to seeing you there either in person or online!

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We can’t wait to see our Brayton Bears back in the building tomorrow!

Best,

Principal Riello
