Letter from the Principal

Dear Brayton Students and Families:

It has been an excellent start to the school year and I would like to welcome all students and families to Brayton Elementary School.  The focus of the entire Brayton staff continues to be developing and maintaining proactive two-way communication with all families in our learning community to encourage active participation in the education of the children by their families.  We are committed to educating the students in a safe, positive learning environment with a strong emphasis on teaching the children to be respectful to everyone while developing good habits that will serve them well as they move forward with their education, as well as their lives.

In order to maintain school safety, all visitors must enter through the front entrance and sign in. If your child is to be dismissed early during the school day, or if there is a change in how the child will be transported home, written notification must be provided when your child arrives at school in the morning to inform the classroom teacher and the main office.  The main office will not accept phone calls to change your child's dismissal after 2:00 p.m.  Please contact the main office (662-3260) between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. if you child will be absent from school that day.  Classes begin at 8:45 a.m. each day and dismissal is at 2:55 p.m..  Please remember that students are not allowed in the building before 8:25 a.m. Daily school attendance is crucial to your child's education and is mandated by law.

It is very important that you keep your family contact information up to date in case of an emergency.  The school district has requested that all families provide two phone numbers that can be contacted in case of a school cancellation or early dismissal.  These listings are used for the automated calls by the school district, as well as for use by the school staff, to contact our families directly during any emergency situation with important information.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are free for all students at Brayton Elementary School (If a student would like a 2nd lunch or extra items, it requires payment).  Breakfast is not served if there is a weather delay in the morning.  Brayton has been a leader of the Breakfast in the Classroom program resulting in recognition at the State House with a Healthy Start Award due to the high level of participation each day by the students.  Lunch is served in the cafeteria on each full day of school.  Brayton Elementary School participates in the healthy snack program that allows our students to enjoy a morning or afternoon snack of complimentary fruits and vegetables each day

Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education. Please contact me at your convenience if you have any questions, concerns, or comments about your child’s education. I continue to be very thankful for the opportunity to serve as the principal of this school and I am committed to working together with the entire Brayton Elementary School community to make this school year a positive and safe educational experience for all students.
